Sidekick is the AI assistant built into your Shopify admin. AgentReady plugs into it, so you can ask where you stand in AI search and what to fix in plain language, in the flow you're already in, instead of opening another dashboard. This page covers what you can ask and how it behaves.
What you can ask
Once the integration is active, Sidekick can answer five things from your AgentReady data:
- "How AI-ready is my store?" returns your readiness score out of 100, your grade, and the top fixes.
- "Where do I rank in AI search?" returns, per tracked buyer-intent query, whether you surface in Shopify's Global Catalog and at what position, plus whether a competitor is undercutting you.
- "Why isn't this product showing up in AI search?" returns the specific catalog data gaps holding a named product back, with a plain reason for each.
- "Did my recent fix work?" returns how much of your catalog the Global Catalog has absorbed and which tracked queries moved.
- "What searches should I be tracking?" suggests buyer-intent queries derived from your own catalog that you aren't watching yet.
You just ask. Sidekick decides when one of AgentReady's tools is the right way to answer.
Read-only, with you in control
Every one of these tools only reads. Asking a question never changes your store. When you're ready to actually fix a product's data, that runs through AgentReady's normal confirm-before-write flow on your catalog page, where you review and apply each change yourself. Sidekick surfaces the answer and points you at the fix; it never writes.
This is Shopify's own model for Sidekick app extensions: data tools stay read-only, and changes happen in a scoped action the merchant confirms. AgentReady's tools run in Shopify's secure sandbox and return only your readiness data.
Turning it on
The first time you ask Sidekick something AgentReady can answer, Sidekick asks your permission to access your AgentReady data (your AI-search rankings, catalog gaps, and readiness scores). Tap Yes once and you're set; from then on, just ask. AgentReady has to be installed on the store, and the answers reflect what your plan tracks.
Availability follows Shopify's own rollout of Sidekick app extensions. Where Sidekick is available and AgentReady is installed and up to date, the tools appear automatically, with nothing to configure.
